Koala is an iconic Australian mammal. I wanted to feature this beautiful and now endangered animal. Eucalyptus trees are vital for their survival but a large portion of bushland can be easily wiped out by catastrophic fire events, which can also have a huge impact on humans.
I named her Sakura after cherry blossoms in Japanese. The cherry blossoms represent new beginnings and revival, so I designed Sakura with the hope that the Koala population will increase and be well protected. Here it’s written in Japanese, Sakura the koala.
